Pot Instant Delicious Recipe: Chocolate Oatmeal #christmas #oetmeal

I held out buying instant pans for a long time.

We have lots of kitchen equipment. My husband is obsessed with the weird people of the 1960s he found in thrift shops (turner, anyone? A space-age salad spinner that came with his own mat? Please? Take it and I'll throw it in Souper's pot for good measure ...)

So I don't think I need one more. But I started thinking ... I wrote for BabyCenter, and Colorado Moms, and ... y'know ... here. And because one of my main goals is to help parents get busy, I might have to try an instant pan. Then I can start trying instant pan recipes and tell you whether I think this is a tendency to embrace or if you can ignore that.

  • 2 c oatmeal
  • 6 c water
  • 1 c milk
  • 2 1/2 Tb of cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 10 oz frozen bag of cherries
  • chocolate chips and dried fruit for toppings

  1. Add all ingredients to the instant pan and mix. Make sure the lid is set to "vent" and the slow cooker set functions to cook for 6 1/2 hours (the heating feature will kick in after this, so the oatmeal will stay warm until you wake up).
  2. When you open the pan, there may be excess fluid. Just stir the oatmeal thoroughly until it mixes.
  3. Spoon into a bowl and top with a sprinkling of chocolate chips and dried cherries or cranberries.
